Celebrating The Heritage and History Of The Galway Hooker Sailboat
The Personalised Galway Hooker Tankard is designed to celebrate the world famous Galway Hooker Sailboat. These unique historical craft reigned supreme in bygone days. Galway Hookers were once the main mode of transport on Galway Bay. Long before road and other means of transport were viable, Galway Hookers were used for fishing and for delivering goods including Turf, Potatoes, Seaweed & Livestock to isolated communities around Galway Bay and on the Aran Islands.
Galway Hooker Revival
In recent years there has been a revival of interest in the Galway Hooker Sailboat. For the first time in generations Galway Hookers are now being restored and built again in Galway City. So much so that during the Summer there is a high chance of seeing these wonderful boats in action at the mouth of the Corrib River near the world famous Claddagh. A glimpse of these boats, as they raise their Red Sails in preparation for a sail on Galway Bay, is enough to set the pulse racing. Seeing these craft in action and a must for any visitor to Galway. You can see Galway Hookers moored in Galway Harbour, The Claddagh and at the Long Walk.

Our Unique Galway Hooker Tankard features a Galway Hooker Sailboat Engraving on the front, an Irish Harp Handle and a Glass Bottom to help you avoid the Kings Shilling. Nautical legend has it that press-ganged sailors were paid in advance with a Shilling at the bottom of their drink. When the tankard of ale was finished their gratuity was found. A Glass Bottom Tankard keeps you at the helm of your own destiny.

Non personalised items can be returned without quibble. Items made to order are non refundable.
Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy
The process
- Contact vendor in normal working hours to be issued with returns number and appropriate returns address.
Registered Customers – Open a Support Ticket with your refund request in My Account -> Orders page. - Your vendor will issue your returns number within 1 working day by email.
- Write returns number on the outside of the packaging (Mandatory), please use original packaging if possible and enclose original documentation received – write on the back the reason for the return (This is not mandatory). Please ensure you remove our labels from the packaging.
- Post the item to your vendor and obtain a proof of postage receipt.
- Your vendor will issue your refund within 14 days.
The small print – exceptions
It’s important that any unwanted item, unless faulty, is returned in a re-saleable condition. We’d expect this to mean that you’ve kept all original packaging and labels, and that it’s undamaged and unused.
Products you are unable to cancel, refund or exchange*
We cannot offer refunds or exchanges, unless faulty, on the following items:
- Products which have been personalised for you
- Products hand made to order for you
- Where a product has been specially ordered in for you, unless faulty, we’re unable to refund or offer an exchange.
- Vendors are unable to accept cancellations for these orders, unless within 24 hours of the order being placed. Vendors will make this clear when you place your order.
- This does not affect your statutory rights.
